Every year on the first day of school I'm insanely, painfully motivated.
I was up early this morning, despite having no sleep. I packed lunches last night right after dinner. I also immediately loaded the dishwasher after dinner. Because I sometimes, um, forget.
I walked 2.5 miles before the first call of the day, both because walking is good for my health and also because today is the first day of our new Shape-Up challenge at work and I'm ridiculously competitive. In between calls and other tasks, I've made a menu plan for the entire month of September, ordered a butt-ton of chicken breasts from Zaycon, applied for some freelance work, sent several encouraging emails to people who could use encouragement, watered all of my plants, and made homemade bread. Well, it's rising right now, but you get the idea.
Probably by December I'll be like, "Yeah. No" and this rush of productivity will all be over with. But for now, I will schedule and over-schedule. I will clean and bake and be the Keeper of My Home or whatever the Hell. I will organize and plan and get everything as right as I can. Anything, anything to keep me from thinking about the fact that the two people in that picture are Sophomores in high school now and the years just keep slipping away.

They grow up so fast! Hope they had a great day!
Shit. Can you bake me some bread?
I know what you mean. Mine are only in 2nd and 1st grades, but damn. They were just in the NICU yesterday. I was complaining that preemie diapers were just too damned big. And whining about having three kids in diapers.
Time sucks.
