Boy Child, as we are driving: Mom? Is that the church we used to go to?
Me: No. It's where we had Girl Scouts.
Boy Child: Meth...Methodist? Right? It's a Methodist church?
Me: Yes.
Boy Child: What's the difference in Methodist and what we are?
Me: We're mostly the same...I think it's pretty much the same anyway.
He was quiet, but just for a moment.
Boy Child: Here's what I don't understand mom. If we all love the same God, why do we have so many different churches and different religions?
I was quiet. For much longer than a moment.
Finally I said: I don't know son. I just don't know.
Boy Child: I think...maybe God would be happier if we all just loved him, instead of worrying about what church we were at.
Me: I think you are right, son. I think you are right.
HE'S BLOWING MY FREAKING MIND.

If only we kept this kind of thinking as adults...
My thoughts exactly. :)
Ya think maybe he's free to come preach at a few churches? I'm saying . . .the boy speaks truth!
You've got fabulous kids, Stephanie, and I think their mom is the one responsible for that! ;)

From the mouths of babes!
Oh, that Boy Child....
I remember a similar conversation. It continued with "Well, we don't all like the same sort of music and stories and so on, but we all like to share what we like with God," followed by "In that case, why don't I go to a church where they have my sort of music and you keep going here?"
wow, just wow.
He's such a smart kid!

Wow! He is one smart child.
This is SO AWESOME! He gets it.
ah, Boy Child... wise beyond his years!!!
tell him, religion is man-made. religion is not "from God" - because if it was, there would only BE one, and it would be the right one. the only important thing is his relationship with God, no matter what the sign says on the building he chooses to worship in!
